The Big East’s Hot Start

Only two weeks into the 2014-2014 college basketball season and one conference is already distinguishing itself from the rest. The Big East is 37-2 so far with the only two losses coming from a rebuilding Marquette.

Although naysayers may bring up The Big East’s strength of schedule thus far, the conference does own 4 wins over top 20 opponents: Creighton over #18 Oklahoma, Villanova over #14 VCU and #19 Michigan, and Butler over #5 UNC.

The graph below ranks the winning percentage of all D1 basketball conferences through Wednesday, November 26th. Obviously there’s still a lot of the season left, but if the Big East’s non-conference dominance continues, it can expect to get more than 3 teams to the NCAA tournament this year.
